 To activate a McAfee product key, follow this step-by-step process.

• Physical Card (Retail Store): Scratch off or check the back of the card inside the box.
  
• Digital Purchase (Online Store): Check your order confirmation email for the 25-character key formatted as XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
  

1. Open your web browser and navigate directly to the official redemption page: mcafee.com/activate.
   
2. Enter your 25-digit product key into the code box without dashes (they populate automatically).
   
3. Enter your email address that you want associated with your McAfee subscription.
   
4. Click Next.
   

1. Existing User: Log in using your McAfee account password linked to that email.
   
2. New User: Follow the prompt to set up a password and create your new McAfee profile.
   
3. (Optional) Select your auto-renewal and payment preferences if prompted on screen.
   

1. Once the product key is successfully linked to your account, click Download on the confirmation screen.
   
2. Agree to the license terms and download the installer file (Setup.exe on Windows or .dmg on Mac).
   
3. Open the downloaded file from your browser downloads or Downloads folder.
   
4. Follow the on-screen installer wizard to complete the setup.
   

1. Open the installed McAfee application on your computer.
   
2. Click on the Account or Profile icon.
   
3. Sign in with the same email and password used during online redemption.
   
4. Check your subscription status to confirm protection is active and the correct expiration date displays.
